ABSTRACT

This descriptive correlational study aimed to examine the effects of stress, depression, and smartphone addiction on suicidal behavior among female university students. A total of 312 students from two universities located in City S were recruited through convenience sampling and completed a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0, employing t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicated that depression was the strongest predictor of suicidal behavior, and both subjective physical and mental health status had significant effects. Although smartphone addiction and stress showed significant correlations with suicidal behavior, they were not significant predictors in the regression model. This study suggests the necessity of developing multidimensional prevention strategies, including early detection of depression, promotion of health awareness, and regulation of smartphone use, to reduce suicidal behavior among female university students.
