ABSTRACT

Vygotsky who is a Russian educator for special education emphasized that sign language is the most important tool to teach for the deaf in the study on language and thought. At internet site http://www.amazon.com, the seventeen books which were searched with the key word, Vygotsky, were major references for this study. The purpose of this study was to describe Vygotsky's view on bicultural and bilingual approach which is a radical language teaching method to teach language for the deaf, theory and assumption, and teaching methodology with 2Bi approach. This study suggested that Vygotsky's contribution and view are very similar with today's 2Bi approach.
