ABSTRACT

Universal design(UD) as the design of environments to be usable for all people as possible can provide an alternative approach to effective instruction for students with disabilities. The purpose of this study is to identify the usability of e-Learning module applying UD. An e-Learning module was developed according to design strategies based on UD. Then, twenty three college students(8 visual disability, 5 hearing disability, 5 physical disability, and 5 without disabilities) and ten experts in e-Learning or special education implemented usability testing of the e-Learning module. Using quantitative and qualitative analysis of data, the degree of usability and additional design strategies for improvement were identified. Based on the findings of this study, suggestions for designing e-Learning in order to improve usability of students with and without disabilities were recommended.
