ABSTRACT

This study tries to in analyze the attributes of disabilities in proverbs. Proverbs provide us with various suggestions regarding inclusive education because they contain understanding of the disabled experiences in real life and wisdoms of ancestors. In addition, they are interesting and simple to understand and thus easily applicable to real everyday life. This study focuses on the type of disabilitiy, views of disability, contents related to the disabilitiy. The results were as follows; First, person with physical disability appear predominantly in the proverbs. Second, negative perceptions larger than positive perceptions about disability. Third, the types of themes involved in proverbs represented ability, propriety and home life.
