ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at clarifying dictation errors and dictation error characteristics of the elementary student. Subjects of this study consisted of 600 elementary students, with each grade 100 students. Dictation errors were analyzed according to sound and form in Korean language. We analysed sound errors such as forties, palatalization, representation sound, vowel, and prolonged sound, and form errors such as word including an uninfected word and a postpositional word, and word including an interval and the ending of a word. Through the results and discussions of this study, the conclusions of this study are as follows. First, dictation errors are decreased as grades are high and dictation errors are high. Second, dictation error are related to the phonological awareness deficit. Through the conclusions and discussions of this study, suggestions are as follows First, we have to clarify dictation errors of the children with disabilities. Second, it is suggested that we have to approach to the dictation error considering phonological awareness deficit in Korean. Third, We need to explore dictation errors considering word frequency.
