ABSTRACT

A lot of studies on teachers attitude toward inclusion showed theirunderstandings about student with disabilities were getting better. The numberof students with hearing impairment studying with general teacher in generalclassrooms is increasing. There, however, are a few researches on inclusionof hearing impaired students in general classroom. By using 400 questionnairesbased from TATIS and TATIE, this study investigated understandings ofgeneral classroom teacher about educating students with hearing impairmentand supports for the teacher teaching hearing impaired students. 289 of thequestionnaires sent out to teachers of 10 schools were returned. Finally,275 of them were analyzed. The results of the study showed that most ofteachers participated in this study had positive attitudes toward inclusion ofhearing impaired students. In addition, the results showed there was atendency that teachers with teaching experience for 5~10 years had morepositive attitude toward inclusive education. And the study found that themore teacher experienced teaching students with disabilities, the less theyhad positive attitudes toward teaching hearing impaired students. For thesake of helping the teacher, a lot of educational administrations have toapply real supports for teachers to educate hearing impaired students welland for hearing impaired students to study without many difficulties.
