Analysis of the parents’ needs of lifelong education program for the people with developmental disabilities

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the parents’ needs of lifelong education program for the people with developmental disabilities. Data were collected from 303 parents that have children with developmental disabilities over 18 years old. Findings were as follows: First, needs of job-living and independent living were 71.3% of lifelong education sectors needed to take a transition into community. Second, types of improvement vocational education and basic literacy education were the highest for the parents had children with disabilities. The needs of humanities liberal education, culture-arts education, civil participation education, and academic ability of supplementation education were low. It was meaningful that this study was provided basic data needed to implement lifelong education program for he people with developmental disabilities.
