ABSTRACT

This study examined the relationship between the professionalism of children’s librarians and the program operation in children’s services. Based on the literature review, the librarians’ expertise was divided into 6 areas, and the program operation was divided into planning and proceeding, and an e-mail questionnaire survey was conducted on 262 public librarians (response rate 58%). As a result of the survey, the children’s program planning was correlated with all areas of professionalism of children librarians, and the program progress was related to the competence of the three areas including professional development. These results can be used as a basis for strengthening the professionalism of children’s librarians and preparing ways to activate children’s programs.
