ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of 30 middle school students in Seoul who usedthe Koala App, an adolescent-friendly smartphone-based dance/movement therapy app developed by aresearch team, over a period of 10 times. The survey focused on satisfaction and dissatisfaction withvarious aspects of the app, including the koala character, actors’ voice, wallpapers, use of music,appropriateness of CG expression, and content composition. The survey results showed that participantswere highly satisfied with the koala character, but suggested improvement for the character’s movements,facial expressions, and emotional stability. To promote adolescents’ mental health and well-being, it ishoped that future research will focus on developing customized apps that use dance and movement,which are specifically designed to be friendly to adolescents.
