ABSTRACT

This study aims to examine the current status of dance within humanities courses in Busan, with afocus on the popularization of humanities. To this end, I first investigated the current status of dance inhumanities courses organized by public institutions such as libraries, universities, local governments, and performance venues. The results indicate that dance constitutes an extremely low proportion ofhumanities courses related to the arts, and that it predominantly remains within the realm of practice, unlike other arts which employ diverse contents to engage citizens across various stages of life. Therefore, I propose that the dance community collaboratively endeavors to activate the ecosystem ofdance studies and proactively develop and disseminate dance humanities content utilizing dance studies. Through this approach, the exploration of humanities through dance can emerge as a valuable endeavorconnecting performers and citizens, thus revitalizing both the dance community and local culture.
