AB - Quotation marks are commonly used punctuation marks in news headlines. A study on the types and functions of quotation marks in contemporary TV news headlines can help us to understand the linguistic features of TV news more deeply. Based on the analysis of the quotation marks in Yanbian News in 2024, this paper divides the types of quotation marks into conversial usage and special usage. Among them, the conventional usage mainly indicates festivals, themes, abbreviations, new things, other names; Special usages mainly indicate colloquial expressions, lexicons, professional nouns, network buzzwords, and variations in the internal components of fixed structures. In addition, this paper explores and summarizes the pragmatic effects of the use of quotation marks in news headlines, such as highlighting, arousing interest and enriching connotation. Finally, through the research of this paper, we try to understand the characteristics of TV news headline quotes more comprehensively, so as to enrich the research results of news style language.
