ABSTRACT

This study employs CiteSpace to systematically review and analyze the knowledge mapping of academic literature on Shan Hai Jing from 1992 to 2024, unveiling the core topics, developmental trajectories, and research hotspots in this field. The findings indicate that Shan Hai Jing research has gradually expanded beyond traditional mythological and literary studies into interdisciplinary domains, encompassing cultural interpretations of mythological systems, historical examinations of regional cultures, and symbolic analyses of cultural motifs. These developments have yielded significant academic contributions. However, notable research gaps remain, particularly in the systematic exploration of cross-cultural transmission and contemporary cultural creativity. To address these issues, this study suggests that future research should focus on the dissemination and reception mechanisms of Shan Hai Jing within the global cultural framework. Moreover, it should examine its symbolic transformations and cross-media transmission in digital literature, film and television productions, and game design. By doing so, scholars can further explore its contemporary significance as cultural heritage in the context of globalization, thereby advancing the international dissemination and revitalization of Chinese culture in both academic and cultural exchanges.
