ABSTRACT

When the U.S. OPEN AI released Chat GPT 3.5 in November 2022, Chinese companies released large language models AI in succession as if they were waiting. Just four months later, on Mar. 16, 2023, Baidu introduced the ERNIE Bot . If Baidu hadn't prepared in advance, it would be impossible. This thesis examines what happened in China before the 2022 Chat GPT announcement in the U.S. and how China was able to respond so quickly. Its main focus is China's policy on AI, universities' participation in AI development, and the use of the education community. The AI language model in which the university participated in the development is divided into three types: independent development type, cooperative type, and technology application type, depending on whether the university cooperates with the company and whether it develops its own technology. The district of Tsinghua University was developed by the university itself, East China Normal University collaborated with Microsoft to develop a fire extinguisher, and Communication University of China Young Li Bai using Baidu's AI literary monologue. This study introduces specific development processes and achievements for each type, which will serve as a reference for Korea's industry-academic cooperation model.
