AB - The purpose of this paper is to reveal how the traditional period's red thread and Wolha elderly narratives are inherited and varied in the film . For more than a thousand years, the Yuelao[月老] and the red thread narrative were recognized as symbols of marriage and matchmaker in the narrative. The content that the Yuelao tie up the red thread to form a relationship is seen in the of the Tang Dynasty, and this is recognized as the most representative work in that it is the appearance of the Yuelao. In this paper, we look at and , including , which are the origin of the narrative of the film Yuelao, and reveal its succession and variations by considering the accepted and changed points compared to the film . In addition, in order to examine the modern variations of the film was analyzed based on the Yuelao narratives and the contents related to reincarnation in the traditional period. Through this, the modern variations embodied in the film by writer and director JiuBaDao based on classical history and religious content were identified and their significance was revealed.
