ABSTRACT

Viewing Korean cinema as a method offers a new multimodal and interdisciplinary pathway for Korean language and literature education. Currently, Korean language programs in China remain constrained by a binary "language–literature" framework and a lack of audiovisual pedagogy, resulting in a high degree of curricular homogenization. At the same time, student demand for systematic film-based learning is rapidly increasing. Integrating Korean cinema into Korean language and literature education is both theoretically sound and practically viable. By centering courses such as Korean Film Appreciation and Criticism,History of Korean Cinema, andKorean Film Subtitling and Cross-Textual Writing, a digital, multimodal learning ecology can be established. This approach significantly enhances the academic depth, societal relevance, and innovative capacity of Korean language programs within the context of the “New Humanities” in China.
