ABSTRACT

Smart Grid is a new electricity grid which transmits and distributes electricity intelligently by converging the Information Technology into the traditional electricity grid. Recently, the Smart Grid projects are promoted rapidly because the ‘Green Energy’becomes more and more interesting. However, the projects are underway without any consideration of Smart Grid Security seriously, though Smart Grid is a critical infrastructure. In this paper, we find that the consideration of Smart Grid Security is not insufficient through the analysis of previous studies regarding the Smart Grid. And we make a comparative analysis of the Smart Grid Security status between the United States and Korea. On the basis of results from the comparative analysis, we suggest the following three methods: 1) the improvement of the legal system related with the Smart Grid Security, 2) the establishment and support of the Smart Grid Security organizations, 3) the making of strategic R&D plan for the Smart Grid Security technology. These proposals will contribute the Smart Grid Security and guarantee promotion of the Smart Grid.
