ABSTRACT

Medical/health tourism is a new type of tourism reflecting consumers' desires for well-being and experience during the travel. This study was conducted to investigate the consumers' intention to visit to Korea for the purpose of medical/health tourism and their preference on medical/health activities as well as tour activities in Korea. The data for the study were collected from Japanese both in Korea and in Japan, because Japanese was considered as an major market for Korean medical/health tourism product. From the results of the study, 37.3 percent of respondents has the intention to visit Korea for medical/health tourism. The study also classified four types of medical/health activities and three types of tour activities which consumers want to participate in. And it revealed that consumers' preference on medical/health activity affects their preference on tour activity when visiting in Korea.
