ABSTRACT

Based on the White(2008)'s suggestion of additional empirical analysis, this paper empirically examined the validity of leisure constraint negotiation model proposed by Loucks-Atkinson and Mannell(2007). The model suggested a structural relationship among negotiation efficacy, leisure motivation, leisure constraint, leisure constraint negotiation strategy, and leisure participation. Data were conveniently collected from 353 Korean highschool teachers and university professors in 2009. Results of a structural equation model analysis showed empirical support on the seven paths out of eight paths of the structural model. However, results did not empirically support the relationship between the leisure motivation and leisure constraint negotiation strategies. Findings from this study suggest that different population and different leisure activity might have different relationships between the constructs. Practical implications and limitations of this study were discussed as well.
