ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence and correlation between the motivation for the temple stay and the mind’s healing experience empirically. 316 valid samples were obtained and analyzed after 350 survey questionnaires carried out for the temple stay participants in four different temples. The collected data were statistically analyzed through SPSS 18.0. A variety of analytic methods such as frequency analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis, stepwise regression and Canonical Cross-Loading were conducted. The results obtained are as follows: 1) the result through the regression analysis of the hypothesis validated that the motivation for the temple stay has a positive effect on healing experience. 2) the result of the canonical correlation analysis, a motivation canonical variable and a healing experience canonical variable have a positive relationship. Especially, it was analyzed that the motivation factor, ‘trust’ and ‘novelty seeking’ have a close correlation with healing experience factor, ‘self-expression’. Also, the canonical correlation analysis results between the two variables coincide with the regression analysis results, which has been shown that ‘trust’ and ‘novelty seeking’ influence the ‘self-expression’ on regression analysis.
