ABSTRACT

he purpose of this study is to investigate the present status and direction of the research through a comprehensive review of research on determinants of medical tourism in Korea. The integrated impact of medical tourism determinants on behavior intention and recommendation intention was statistically significant. As a result of detailed analysis of effect size, the planned behavior factors, benefit, service quality, and country image influenced behavioral intentions. Country image, service quality, perceived risk, and benefit were found to influence the choice intention. In addition, country image, service quality, and benefit were used as a common medical tourism determinant of behavior intention, choice intention, revisit intention and recommendation intention. Planned behavior factors were used only as a leading factor of behavior intention. These results are worthy of the first study that attempted a comprehensive review and exploratory approach to the results of the hypotheses presented in individual studies of medical tourism.  It can be used as a basic data for establishing the direction of research on determinants of medical tourism in the future.
