AB - 本稿是從形象的、歷史的、科學的、戰術的、文化的、數理的角度, 對《三國演義》裡出現的棍棒類打擊刑具及兵器進行了考察硏究。其目的在於取得對《三國演義》的更豐富的、更正確的理解。硏究步驟如下: 一、首先從《三國演義》里抽出所有棍棒類打擊刑具及兵器而進行分類。二、調查《三國演義》对那些棍棒類打擊刑具及兵器的描写。三、考察那些棍棒類打擊刑具及兵器是否存在於《三國志》的記錄上。四、考察那些棍棒類打擊刑具及兵器的特性。五、根據歷史記錄及考古文物資料, 以現代度量衡單位顯示那些棍棒類打擊刑具及兵器的長短與重量等。《三國演義》裡出現的棍棒類打擊形具及兵器有如下: 鞭、柳條鞭、鐵鞭、鋼鞭、四楞鐵鐧、杖、梃、棒、五色棒、鐵棒、大棒、鐙棒、棍、大棍、金吾、杵。在《三國演義》裡出現的棍棒類打擊形具及兵器當中, 鞭、杖、五色棒等是有歷史根據的。但《三國演義》的“柳條鞭”是把《三國志》裏的“杖”變造過來的。鐵鞭、鋼鞭、四楞鐵鐧、鐙棒是到了宋朝才出現的兵器, 並且棍、大棍的名稱是從明朝以後才多起來的。由此可知: 《三國演義》裡出現的許多棍棒類打擊形具及兵器是小說家把後代刑具及兵器拿過來再安排於三國時期人物身上的。本稿里涉及的杖、梃、棒、棍、吾、杵與未涉及的棓、檛都是屬於棍棒類打擊刑具和兵器里邊的。這些許多刑具及兵器雖然具有着不同名稱, 然而它們在外形上與製作目的上幾乎沒有甚大差異。大同小異相仿的棍棒刑具及兵器之所以具有那麽多的不同名稱, 很可能是因爲它們作爲基本的打擊刑具與兵器, 在漫長期間中和在廣泛地區里被使用的。本稿的硏究意義在於最初硏究考察了《三國演義》的所有棍棒類打擊形具及兵器。
