ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to examine whether storytelling class was effective in improving creativity and social skills of university students. The subjects of this study were 56 university students who were enrolled in S University in Dongjak-gu, Seoul and took storytelling classes as liberal arts subjects. The subjects were 32 male students and 24 female students in the first to fourth grade. The experiment was conducted for 15 weeks from March 2, 2021 to June 11, and the experiment was conducted using a single-group pretest-post test design. For the pre- and post-tests to measure the creativity of university students, the‘Simplified Integrated Creativity Testfor university students’was used, and for measuring the social skills of college students, the ‘Social Skill Questionnaire among the ’University Liberal Arts Class and Teaching Professions Class Effect Evaluation Tool’was used. The collected data were statistically processed with paired t-test using SPSS 25.0 program.Therefore, it can be said that it is effective to utilize liberal arts such as storytelling class for creativity and social skill development of university students.
