ABSTRACT

This study is to investigate the difference between scienceーgifted students and normal students in critical thinking, intelligence, personality, in relation of them, and in variables explaining critical thinking. The subjects are 124 scienceーgifted students and 172 normal students. The results were as follows: first, critical thinking, intelligence, and personality of scienceーgifted students were higher than normal students. Diligence, autonomy and leadership among personality variables of scienceーgifted students were higher than normal students and the other variables were not different. Second, language commanding ability and calculus ability among intelligence variables were positively correlated with critical thinking of scienceーgifted students, while all intelligence variables were correlated with critical thinking of normal students. Diligence among personality variables was negatively correlated with critical thinking of scienceーgifted students, while feeling status and responsibility among personality variables were positively correlated with critical thinking of normal students. Intelligence variables explained more critical thinking in normal students, while personality variable explained more critical thinking in scienceーgifted students.
