AB - The purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness and the environment of the social enterprises in rural areas. Based on the results, this study explores the tasks needed to promote the social enterprises in rural areas by focusing on the examples of DalSung-County. To achieve this objective, ,this study conducts a survey with social groups and organizations in DalSung-County. In addition to the survey, an interview with the representatives of six socia leconomic organizations in DalSung-County is conducted. The study results are as follows: First, the social enterprises in rural areas should be promoted based on the traditional social economic organizations: or example, Agriculture Cooperatives, Forestry Cooperative, farmer groups, various initiatives made by community development project.
Second, products that can represent/highlight special regional features need to be developed. To develop these products, cooperative industry-academic network construction is required.
Third, a support organization responsible for commercializing the social enterprises, marketing activities, marketing strategies development, employee education needs to be established.
Fourth, the social enterprise businesses and rural activation businesses of the different ministries are needed to promote a unified operation to nurture the social enterprises in rural areas.
Fifth, capital market promotion is needed to nurture the social enterprises in rural areas through fund-raising.
