Mediating Effects of Psychological Capital on the Relationships between Transformational Leadership and Job Involvement, and Innovative Behavior

ABSTRACT

In this study, we tested the relationship between transformational leadership and psychological capital in addition to the mediating role of psychological capital between transformational leadership and organizational effectiveness. Based on related theory and literature review, 5 hypotheses were developed and tested. Questionnaires were distributed to 350 employees of 8 organizations. Among returned questionnaires, 270 samples were used for empirical study. According to the results, transformational leadership had significant positive effects on psychological capital, which in turn had positive effects on job involvement and innovative behavior. In particular, the results suggest that psychological capital partially mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and job involvement and innovative behavior. Implications and directions for future research are discussed in discussion and conclusion.
