ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of peer tutoring on reading fluency of students with reading difficulties. For this study, thirty-five elementary students in grade 3(tutor 12, tutee 12, and control group 11) were participated and assigned to the two treatment conditions. Experimental group was received peer tutoring third times a week for 12 weeks and tested once one week. But control group and tutors was only tested once one week. The collected data was analyzed by t-test and HLM(Hierarchical Linear Model). The Results of this study were as following: Firstly, tutee which was received peer tutoring showed more higher achievement and faster growth rates on reading than control group. Secondly, tutor improved reading achievement and showed faster growth rates on reading. In conclusion, Peer-tutoring is an effective teaching method to enhance reading fluency of students with reading difficulties.
