ABSTRACT

The purposes of this study are to develop a support model for the successful utilization of ICT in special education settings based on the perception, experience, and needs of special educators regarding ICT for students with intellectual disabilities. 18 special educators who have professional knowledge and experience for ICT participated in focus group interviews. Four themes emerged from qualitative analysis: (1) The perception and belief on utilization of ICT, (2) The actual conditions on utilization of ICT, (3) The barriers on utilization of ICT, (4) The supports for successful utilizing ICT in special education settings. Finally, the critical elements and future direction of the supports for successful utilizing ICT in special education settings were presented based on the results of study.
