ABSTRACT

Universal design for learning(UDL) is recently considered as an alternative principle of instructional design for a wide range of diverse students including students with disabilities. The purpose of the study is to review the recent literatures on applying UDL in the educational settings and to identify research method, strategies applying UDL, and educational effectiveness appeared in the research. The search procedures through the Web-database system were implemented to find the proper research. and a total of 8 articles were included in this review. The results indicated that most of subjects were K-12 students including students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms and case study was mostly implemented as a research method. Results founded that strategies applying UDL were divided into the multiple methods of presentation, expression, and engagement. Additionally, the educational effectiveness of applying UDL were the improvements of students participation, students interaction, on-task behavior, social skill, academic achievement, motivation in learning, and teaching skills of teachers. Implications and recommendations for future research based on the results were suggested.
