ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mathematical activities through intervention focusing on children’s songs on the acquisition of number concepts for young children with development delays. For the purpose, mathematical activities through intervention focusing on children’s songs were implemented for three young children with developmental delays, from four to five years old, and intervention maintenance was examined. Those research efforts led to the following results. All the participants improved in number concepts after mathematical activities through intervention focusing on children’s songs, and maintained the number concepts they acquired after the intervention period. Judging from those results, it is concluded that mathematical activities through intervention focusing on children’s songs are effective in enhancing number concepts among young children with development delays and maintaining such positive changes after the completion of intervention.
