ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to research the model development of the effective language education system for hearing impaired students. The results of the study are as followings: The first, it is found that there are not any guidelines for the effective method of the language education for hearing impaired students at the level of the government. The second, it is investigated that the deaf schools generally teach the Korean sign language (KSL) and Korean language by their own education plans, but the oral reading education school and all the other general schools don’t teach KSL throughout the country. The third, it’s believed that the sign languages are the deaf’s mother languages for the Deaf throughout the world. The fourth, the guideline at the level of the government for the effect of the language education for hearing impaired students is needed and wanted as followings: ① the bilingual education system, ② the detail system and programs of the language education for hearing impaired students at the level of each of deaf schools, ③ the professional qualities and the feeling of royal summons as a teacher and principal of the deaf school, ④ the professional personnels of the offices and departments for the education of hearing impaired students, ⑤ setting up the teacher’s education courses for hearing impaired students and sign language courses in the universities, ⑥ the functions of the researching the professional effective methodologies of the deaf education, deaf studies/culture and sign language at the level of the government, ⑦ and education and events for developing and activating the various Deaf cultures to make the Deaf have their own identities and upgrade the qualities of their deaf educations including the language education.
