ABSTRACT

Due to the recent spread of smart devices, educational availability of smart devices is being expanded. Also, educational paradigm faces the fusion and complex era which require the creativity and imagination of 21st century based on the student-centered constructionism. The purpose of this study was to investigate attitude toward vocational class and career awareness of high school students with disabilities by developing STEAM Vocational Education program based on SMART learning and applying the program for the students with disabilities. For this purpose, 40 students with disabilities in high school special education classrooms participated in this study(20 students in the experimental group, 20 students in the control group, respectively). The result of this study showed that attitude toward vocational class and career awareness of students with disabilities in the experimental group were more improved than that of control group and this difference between the two groups was statistically significant. Based on the results, this study suggested teaching methods to identify curriculum combination or fusion for students with mild intellectual disabilities. Also, further research directions and implications about smart learning and STEAM education were provided.
