ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to explore how disabled children’s parents advocated and participated for their children’s rights from the viewpoint of disability studies and what are the results of these participations. For the purpose of this study, we collected and analyzed various documents related to disabled parents’ participation through literature review. The results of this study showed that disabled parents’ participation played an important role in the acquisition of educational rights and the improvement of rights. They also showed that the rights of children with disabilities started to included family as well as professionals. However, disabled children’s parents’ participation has restricted to school-age children, and their participation has tended to stay external growth based on parents. Therefore, disabled children’s parents’ participation needs to actively do in disabled adults as well as school-age children, and disabled children’s parents’ participation needs to do qualitative development as well as external growth.
