ABSTRACT

This study was to diagnose current status and suggest perspectives on higher education for students with disabilities through exploring experts' opinions. For this study, a total of 8 professors and university staff for supporting students with disabilities who have substantial research experience and practice on this topic, participated in focus group interviews. The scripts of the interviews were analyzed with an open coding method and seven themes and twenty sub-themes were classified. We discussed current status and perspectives on higher education for students with disabilities under these seven themes : 1) the special admission program for the applicants with disabilities 2) the assistants of students with disabilities in university 3) the evaluation of education welfare support for students with disabilities in university, 4) the selection of students with disabilities in university(delay or dropout) 5) the difficulty of university staff for supporting students with disabilities 6) another barrier, tuition and 7) the future model for higher education for students with disabilities. Finally, several specific implications on higher education for students with disabilities were provided.
