ABSTRACT

The active participation of parents that have students with disabilities in special education is important. The competency of special education teachers need to be strengthened in order to do this, and it need to implement special training from teacher training courses. Based on this preliminary study, this study was to verify the effects of parent education program applied action learning on teacher efficacy and the view of parents, targeting on 31 pre-special education teachers. Parent education program applied action learning was consisted of a action learning activity, which to explore problem, create solutions and prepare action plans, and parent education programs, which to acquire knowledge and skills. Experiment control group pre-post design was carried out by applying two months. The results, preliminary special teachers received action learning program was found to have improved the view of parents and teachers efficacy than those not received. Based on this results, it was suggested that education program centered in participation and practice, such as action learning program, need to be provided preliminary special education teachers, to enhance parental competence.
