A Analysis on Perception of Private Kindergarten Director Related to Diagnosis and Pre-Referral Intervention for Young Children with Suspected Disabilities

ABSTRACT

The qualitative study was to explore 8 private kindergarten director's perception related to diagnosis and pre-referral intervention of young children with suspected disabilities in private kindergarten. The questionnaire through preliminary discussion which consisted of a semi-structured interviews. In this interview, four major themes and thirteen sub-themes were derived. The four major themes were as follows; discovery of young children with suspected disabilities, difficulties of diagnosis and referral, planning and actual pre-referral intervention, and requests for support. Based on the results of this study, implications for the diagnosis of childhood disability and the necessary system for enhancing the possibility of pre-referral intervention were discussed.
