ABSTRACT

[Purpose] This study investigated trends and contents of research on special education support centers up tp the year 2022. [Method] A total of 37 theses and academic research were analyzed. The research topics were broadly categorized into studies on the importance of central special education support center operation, research on itinerant education as a part of special education services, research on diagnostic assessment as a part of special education services, and studies categorized by disability areas among special education beneficiaries. [Result] The analysis included the legal basis, roles, and limitations of special education support centers. Recently, there has been active research beyond the functions of special education support centers, focusing on the establishment of special education institution. [Conclusion] This study suggests that future research should focus on the operation and comparative analysis of special education institution.
