AB - [Purpose] This study aimed to explore the specific needs of teachers with hearing impairments for communication support and communication support systems. [Methods] We conducted two focus group interviews(FGIs) with seven teachers with hearing impairments from S city. [Results] The analysis of the data from the interviews resulted in four themes, 10 categories, and 21 subcategories. First, teachers with hearing impairments had little experience with human resources support and demanded equal opportunities, procedures, and methods for receiving human resources support. Second, they experienced accumulated psychological stress due to the lack of communication support and low teacher efficacy. In particular, they experienced various difficulties with telephone work and required communication support for contextualization to perform their work independently. Third, they demanded that an effective communication support system and a one-stop system for human support be established. Finally, they requested that a system be established to effectively utilize human resources, and for this, preliminary training is essential. [Conclusion] Teachers with hearing impairments should also receive human support within the system, and communication support should be provided according to their needs. In order to be effective, the communication support system should be tailored to their needs.
