Purpose: The study is to provide a guideline for designing a curriculum of nursing officers and for measuring educational achievements. For this, we defined competency of junior nursing officers and designed relevant competency model. Method: We extracted competency of junior nursing officers through the analyses of the data gathered from literature reviews and interviews. Also, in order to design our model, we conducted a survey for nursing officers' understandings on the level of importance and performance of competency model. Result: We found that the competency model of junior nursing officers was consisted of 61 items for 7 competencies and it was divided into 3 core competencies. Three core competencies, also, are categorized into three clusters: duty competency cluster, value competency and human management competency. Among the competencies we found, the most important competency was interpersonal competency, and the highest performance competency was personal trait competency. Based on the results of a survey for nursing officers' understandings on the level of importance and performance, we found that we should place the top priority on education efforts for developing competency for professional competency.

Purpose: This study was to identify the effects of foot reflexology on anxiety and stress pre-operating patient. Methods: A quasi-experimental study using a non-equivalent control group nonsynchronized design and was conducted from June 10, to August 20, 2007. The subjects were military personnel who received arthroscopy surgery on 00 military hospital. The experimental group received the reflexology on both feet in 10 minutes and the control group received massage on both feet in 5 minutes. The data was analyzed by χ2 test, t-test, ANCOVA, paired-t test using the SPSS 12.0 V. program. Results: There was no significant decrease in anxiety, systolic blood pressure, pulse, stress between control and experimental group. There was significant differences pre-post comparison in experiment group, blood pressure, pulse and stress. It means foot reflexology good choice for reduce stress response pre-operation patient. This study showed that blood pressure are significantly lower than control group(p<.05). Conclusion: Findings indicate that this study may be contribute to develop nursing intervention for preoperative patients.

Purpose: The purpose of this cross-sectional descriptive correlation study was to identify anger level and anger- expression types of military soldiers and investigate the relation between the identified anger level and anger-expression types and their health status and problem behaviors. Methods: Four hundred seven soldiers were recruited from May to August, 2007. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires which constructed to include Speilberger's STAXI(State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory), BDI(Beck Depression Inventory), Symptom Checklist-90-revised, BDHI(Buss & Durkee Hostility Inventory), DIS(Dysfunctional Impulsivity Scale), and health risk behaviors. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: 1. This research presented that the average values on perceived anger, anger-in, anger-out, and anger -control were 20.16, 18.21, 15.48, and 19.40, respectively. 2. On the characteristics of the soldiers, the factors which affect anger level and anger-expression types were rank, educated level, recreation, and satisfaction level of life. And the factors which affect health status and problem behaviors were assignment to position, rank, educated level, recreation, age, presence of religion, presence of brothers or sisters, and satisfaction level of life. 3. Anger level, anger-in, anger-out, and anger-control of military soldiers were positively related depression, somatization, aggressiveness, and impulsivity. Anger-in and anger-control were negatively related aggressiveness and impulsivity, respectively. On the health status, depression was positively related somatization, aggressiveness, and impulsivity and somatization was positively related aggressiveness, and impulsivity. And health risk behaviors of the soldiers were affected by perceived anger and anger-expression types. Conclusion: From these results, nursing intervention program for reducing perceived anger level, anger in, anger out and improving anger control should be provided for military soldiers.
