This study analyzed the effects of comic book reading program on Korean proficiency and acculturation of youth with immigration background, by conducting a six-month reading program with five teenagers with immigration background. Ten comic books were selected from <Excellent comic books for children and young adults> published by School Library Journal, based on the themes - that are related to the lives of youth with immigration background - and interests of participating teens. According to the literacy skills test conducted before and after the reading program, the participating teens’ Korean proficiency has generally improved, particularly in the areas of interpretation and vocabulary. In terms of writing, grammatically incorrect sentences, phrases, and expressions have declined. Most participants showed stable adjustment to Korean culture, but one participant who felt still insecure of her ethnic identity deeply empathized with one of the characters of the books, and shared the difficulties of living as an outsider of a society. The participants of this research learned or rediscovered the joy of reading through this comic book reading program; at the end of the program, many of them expanded their interest in reading novels, books without any illustrations.

Most fields of society have constructed and utilized various name identifier systems such and International Standard Name Identifier(ISNI), Open Researcher and Contributor ID(ORCID), and Interested Parties Information System(IPI) in order to uniquely identify individual authors and institutions and to associate them to data related to creative works. Although it might be inevitable to apply name identifier systems in the current data environment with rapid association and integration of data across fields, there are many problems to be addressed when utilizing those systems. In order to overcome these problems and construct better information ecological system by associating and linking data from various fields, this research analyzed advanced cases for data integration based on ISNI. Through the analysis, it suggested managemental refinements for efficiently utilizing ISNI in data integration and association.

This study has examined the policy status of the specialized libraries and analyzed the status of curation services of libraries and similar institutions and portals, and proposed policy directions for the curation services provision of the specialized libraries. As for the results of this study, first, curation information is collected and selected through the participation of various curators, and the curation information is regularly updated on the websites and online gateways toward maximizing the perception of the book collections in place and the use of collections. Second, the scope of the specialized libraries’ curation services are diversified, such as research support services, one-on-one customized curation services, and book curation. Third, digital curation services are constructed in connection with specialized themes. Fourth, beacon is installed inside, and based on the information received from the information forwarding media, individualized user services are provided via such data as the scope of movement of the users and the time entailed for dwelling in a space.
