ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of using Google Classroom in dental hygiene education. To Examine its impact, a survey was administered to 67 first-year students enrolled in a dental hygiene program, utilizing instruments that measured self-directed learning, learning sttitude, and Google Classroom learning experience. The results revealed that both learning attitude and Google Classroom learning experience had a significant positive effect on self-directed learning. Significant correlations were also found among the three variables. Notably, The Google Classroom learning experience showed a partial mediating effect on the relationship between learning attitude and self-directed learning, which was further supported by a statistically significant Sobel test result (Z=2.775, p=.005). These findings suggest that positive experiences with learning platforms such as Google Classroom can enhance learners’ intrinsic motivation and self-directed learning behaviors. This study highlights the importance of instructional design that considers learners’ digital learning experiences and supports the effective application of Google Classroom in health sciences education.
