ABSTRACT

In recent years, although many reflective displays are developed and some of them are commercialized, the evaluation method of the emitting display which is generally used as an evaluation standard of a display is still applied. Especially, in case of the reflective display that the electrically opposite particles with contrastive color move by an electric field and form an image, different evaluation standards with the emitting display are necessary. The desirable evaluation standards of a reflective display are response time, memory effect, occupation area showing a rate of contributive particles to a movement, and non-linearity, of which review and evaluation examples are shown with related research in this paper. Although these standards directly effect to electro-optical property, lifetime, reliability of the panel, and fabrication of driving circuits, these evaluation methods based on particle movement are hardly introduced on papers and are aim of our study.
