ABSTRACT

This paper deals with the conflicts between the Parlement and political point of view of the Ormée who acted in Bordeaux during the Fronde period. The Ormée created its own organization against unequal institution such as the Parlement and its operation. It was considered to be highly reasonable. Nonetheless, the Parlement was afraid of radicality of republicanism, egalitarianism and anti-class attitude supported by the Ormée. Accordingly, it opposed Ormée’s attempts to expand social and political justice without tolerance. That is, the Parlement tried to find its own power and authority in the traditional hierarchy of the past. The vision of the Ormée could not be accepted by the king, the aristocrats and the judges. Although the efforts of the Ormée failed, their efforts led to the French Revolution.
