ABSTRACT

This study examined the perception toward the Laban Movement Theory Education in Korean and American University. Delphi survey was carried out to investigate this research. The conclusion regarding the necessity of the Laban Movement Theory education in university dance education is as follows. First, it helps to improve overall movement ability as basic education of movement. Second, it helps to improve dance skill. Third, it can help developing creativity and imagination by providing materials of creation. Fourth, it can be used as dance literacy education. Fifth, it helps to train leaders in the process of dance education. This study suggests expanding classes related to Laban Movement Theory in university dance education in the future in order to provide a broader view of dance and to foster dance educators recognizing the possibility of applying it to various fields as well as helping graduates finding their careers.
