ABSTRACT

This paper expounds Hsun Tzu’s humanistic view of human subliming with etiquette based on Hsun Tzu’s literature. At first , the article elucidates Hsun Tzu’s characteristic of emphasizing human effort in setting up his theory. Hsun Tzu selected man as his building direction between man and nature so he raised etiquette as the meaning of human effort. Next the article probes meaning of the word of civilization and connotation of Hsun Tzu’s paying attention to civilization. It indicates the characteristic of valuing external in Hsun Tzu’s theory elucidating the idea of etiquette as civilization of Hsun Tzu by item. Finally the article makes exposition regarding subliming summarizing Hsun Tzu’s thought about accomplishing human civilization by the promotion of etiquette and pointed out the significance that Hsun Tzu’ proposition is helpful to enhance understanding on the process of human civilization.
