1. Presenting theoretical directions for the refinement and development of academics


Youth activities are defined in the definition of the Basic Youth Act (Article 3) as “activities necessary for the balanced growth of youth and various types of activities such as training activities, exchange activities, and cultural activities, etc. However, there was a lot of misunderstanding as the academic definition of this concept was interpreted very limitedly in the field. Accordingly, Korea Youth Activity Research Association has consistently held academic conferences to improve the theoretical context of the conceptual regulation of youth activities, and through an in-depth research discussion process, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Work Guidelines in 2020 also results in a reorientation of the concept of youth activity. As such, the Korea Youth Activity Research Association has done its best efforts to develop an academic, theoretical, and political agendas to achieve the most basic ideology of youth activities, goal orientation, and specific outcomes for fostering healthy youth and achieved remarkable results.

  

2. Providing a platform to serve as a crossroads for youth activity sites


Currently, the biggest problem for leaders in the field of youth activities is the lack of re-education and awareness-raising education to actively cope with the changing social changes or the process of accepting technological innovation after field employment. Such education should be actively conducted, but the necessity and initiative for it are very weak. In other words, the situation of insufficient effort to develop one's own competency after getting a job is fixed. There is a great need to improve the weak points of self-development capabilities in various fields such as field research ability, program development ability to meet field demand, and capacity to accommodate youth needs. Therefore, The Journal of Youth Activity of the Korea Youth Activity Research Association aims to provide an opportunity to present academic research and field research. In addition, we pursue harmonious convergence between the field of activity and academic research. It also actively provides opportunities for various disciplines to interact with each other. These efforts are contributing greatly to enhancing the self-development competency of youth leaders who are directly active in the field.

 

3. Providing a clear direction for youth activities and interdisciplinary convergence


In recent years, youth activities are actively requested for comprehensive support in career, service, citizenship, self-development, creativity and fusion ability, participation and human rights, and furthermore, character education through cooperation with others, away from experiential activities centered on outdoor sites in the past. Therefore, as in the past, independent operation of youth facilities is facing limitations, so it is essential to understand the governance structure to follow the changes of not only youth facilities, but also youth groups, village innovators, and school curriculum, and changes in the local community and society as a whole. Therefore, the Korea Youth Activity Research Association focuses on providing opportunities for convergence between youth activities and other disciplines by providing opportunities for topic selection, discussion forums, and invitations of experts from other fields to lead cooperative discussions between these facilities.

 

4. Raising the foothold of youth activity journal and the interest of general academic researchers and other related people in youth activities


'The Journal of Youth Activity' of Korea Association for Youth Activity Research Association guarantees unrivaled expertise in the field of youth activity in Korea, so in the process of collecting research papers, the awareness of activities viewed by numerous researchers and ordinary citizens is not limited to the youth activity field, but social interest in all fields of youth activity is raised.

 

5. Introduction of international youth activities and convergence of academic activities and communication opportunities


The goal of Korea Youth Activity Research Association is not only to systematize youth activities in Korea, but also to promote the effectiveness of youth activities, youth facilities, and youth activities of Korea in the world. As part of this, the first international academic conference in Korea was held ahead of the youth society. At the same time, foreign participants were informed of the expertise and specificity of youth activities in Korea, and in our case, they are taking the lead in improving the international awareness of youth activities by understanding the flow of youth activities in other countries.
