AB - This study examined latent profiles of career adaptability and their transitions from late adolescence to early adulthood. It also investigated whether creative personality and high-school career activity experiences predicted late-adolescent profile membership and subsequent transitions. Data were drawn from Waves 5 and 7 of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 middle-school cohort. The latent transition analysis included 2,325 participants who responded to career adaptability indicators in at least one wave, while predictor analyses included 2,252 participants with complete predictor data. Four latent profiles were identified in late adolescence: moderate, low-curiosity, low-confidence, and high. Four profiles were also identified in early adulthood: low-curiosity, high, moderate, and low. Most individuals in the late-adolescent moderate profile remained in the moderate profile, although some transitioned to the low profile. Those in the high profile were most likely to remain high but also transitioned to the moderate or low profiles. Members of the low-curiosity and low-confidence profiles were most likely to transition to the moderate profile. Creative personality, experience/practice-based career activities, club activities, and creative/exploratory activities positively predicted membership in the late-adolescent high profile. Experience/practice-based career activities and club activities also predicted membership in the low-curiosity profile, while creative personality and these two activity types predicted membership in the low-confidence profile. Club and creative/exploratory activities were associated with a lower likelihood of transitioning from the moderate to the low profile. However, among individuals in the low-confidence profile, some career activity experiences were associated with a greater likelihood of transitioning to the low rather than the moderate profile.
