ABSTRACT

Author examined the relationships between residents’ community attachment and their perceptions on modern cultural heritage. The analysis was from 280 questionnaires returned by residents of Joong-Ku of Incheon on May 2011. A factor analysis on 3 items(identity, dependence, rootedness) of residents’ community attachment and 2 items(tourism commodification, heritage conservation) of residents’ perceptions on modern cultural heritage was made. The results showed that there were canoncial correlation between residents’ community attachment(identity, dependence, rootedness) and residents’ perception on modern cultural heritage(tourism commodification, heritage conservation). Other results suggested that residents’ community attachment(identity, dependence, rootedness)made an effect on residents’ perception on modern cultural heritage(tourism commodification) and the one(identity, dependence) affected the other(heritage conservation).
