ABSTRACT

The middle aged need to understand their career development readiness in order to decide on their career in a self-directed way as well as to alleviate social problems which come from demographic aging and the care of older people. This study aims to develop and validate the career development readiness self-assessment for the middle aged. To achieve this purpose, candidate questions were developed by reviewing literatures and analyzing qualitative data from interviews with the middle aged and career counsellors respectively. These questions were surveyed for the middle aged(valid sample, 938) and analyzed with EFA (Exploratory Factor Analysis) and ESEM (Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling). The results show that, firstly, job-seeking attitude, Skills for job-searching, and vocational competency are suggested as subscales. Secondly, each subscale consists of 5 questions. On the one hand, this developed inventory can give researchers to have the middle aged centered perspective from the career counselor centered. On the other hand, the middle aged can decide on what to do for their career with utilizing this self-assessment tool.
