AB - This study examines the operational structures and significance of regional industrialization living labs within the policy framework of the Glocal University initiative, focusing on Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and Kangwon National University. As regional decline, industrial hollowing-out, and demographic change intensify, living labs have emerged as an alternative to short-term or technology-driven innovation models by linking everyday local problem-solving with technological experimentation and industrial transformation. In Gangwon Province, living labs in digital healthcare, smart mobility, and carbon neutrality function as participatory platforms that connect residents’ daily lives with regional industrial strategies. The case of Kangwon National University shows how a university can translate local needs into research agendas, conduct field-based experimentation, and connect outcomes to policy and industrial application. These findings suggest that regional industrialization living labs can reorganize university–region relations around partnership and co-production, offering a practical model for sustainable regional innovation under the Glocal University policy.
