ABSTRACT

This study examines how literary exhibitions can narratively construct and communicate locality through the contextualization of an author’s life, historical moment, and regional setting. As literary museums in Korea have increasingly been established around prominent local authors and regional literary traditions since the 2000s, the relationship between authors, place, and time has become a central issue in exhibition studies. Focusing on the exhibition Lee Ta e -jun and Seongbuk, this study investigates how locality is shaped as an interpretive and narrative framework around the author. It first considers the conceptual relationship between locality and narrative in literary exhibitions, and then analyzes how the exhibition connects the author’s biography, literary world, and regional context to expand the meaning of locality. On this basis, the study identifies practical implications for future curatorial strategies and demonstrates the narrative potential of literary exhibitions as a medium for reinterpreting local literature.
